Coming of Age Songs for the Millennials

1. ) Crank Dat’ by Soulja Boy

This song right here is the epitome of the millennial age. Crank Dat’ is LEGENDARY. Whenever I hear this I automatically think back to MySpace Days. Soulja Boy changed the game with this and was a pioneer to the whole “internet viral sensation.” And for this…no matter where I am, I will always show respect whenever I hear it and crank dat.

2.) I Believe I Can Fly

I believe I can fly was THE graduation song. I’m pretty sure every millennial’s graduation whether preschool, elementary, or middle school featured this song. I personally remember singing it on stage at my eighth grade graduation. This song was definitely the perfect type of motivation and inspiration we needed at such a young age. Who remembers the remix…I believe I can fly, I got shot by the FBI, all I wanted was a chicken wing…

3.) You’re a Jerk- New Boyz

8th/9th grade was all about skinny jeans and jerkin’. If you weren’t about either one of those, you just weren’t cool. Jerkin’ crews were everywhere and yes my friends and I made a jerkin’ video with each one of us wearing different colored skinned jeans. Perfecting the art of the “pin drop” and reject was a task that deserves more recognition…I spent a good week trying to learn these moves.
