Relationship Feels

There’s a lot of relationship songs out there that just get you in your feelings but these are the ones I’ve recently been loving…

Garden (Say It Like Dat) by SZA

When I first heard this song I fell in love like SZA, girl, how do you know my feelings?? This song just might be my favorite off the album. Or a close tie with “The Weekend” or an even closer tie with “20 Somethings.” I always have to restart the song because there is no 8 or 16 count in the beginning before she starts singing. Literally she just jumps right in to it. And of course her grandmother with the gems at the end of each song just reminds me how much wisdom our grandmothers have.

twoAM by Sza

Another SZA song and believe it or not, this was actually the first SZA song that I heard back in July 2016. I was on somebody’s SoundCloud and it played and I fell in love. I had no clue who SZA was…I didn’t even know how to say her name right but her spin on Party Next Door’s “Come and See Me” was filled with so much soul. I was just like wow because her whole flow and vibe was different from what I was used to hearing. I really wish this song was on Spotify so I could play it all of the time without having to go to YouTube or Soundcloud to hear it, since I pay that $9.99 a month. LOL.

While We’re Young by Jhene Aiko

Jhene is just so cute and free-spirited and the video is even cuter since she paid homage to the movie “50 First Dates.” This song just makes me feel free and doing whatever with the person I love. It reminds me of how I felt the summer I first fell in love…you only want to be with that person, you could spend every waking moment with that person and still not get annoyed or bored. You don’t care what no one says…everything feels right with them.

Comfort Inn Ending by Jhene Aiko

Jhene was playing no games with this song. She was vulnerable and open but at the same time upfront. She called out her exes by name…YES GIRL! I like how in this song, she speaks to us, she speaks to herself, she speaks to her exes. And she shouts out that friend, that was always there, always had her back throughout her relationships when she couldn’t see clearly.

Honey by Kehlani

She’s back! “Honey” came out a few weeks ago and this is Kehlani’s latest release since her debut album back in January. Kehlani is in love ya’ll and you can just tell by her words and how she’s expressing herself to her boo. This song makes me happy to listen to because it’s just her voice and an acuostic guitar. It’s raw and real.
