Questionable Song Lyrics

You by Lloyd featuring Lil Wayne

Is it 5’2 or fine too? It’s been 10 years since Lloyd came out with the banger “You.” He brought Lil Wayne on the track which made the song even more poppin. I constantly use Wayne’s line “I’m not talking fast you just listening slow.” (All my fast talkers can relate). And to this day, there’s still much debate on what the actual lyrics to the chorus are. It’s so hard to distinguish because in the song, it sounds like Lloyd is saying both. Yet, he still doesn’t confirm which one it is. In an interview Lloyd did with the Hip Hop and entertainment platform, All Def Digital, Lloyd says he gets that question everyday but basically leaves the answer to whatever the listener wants it to be. NO I NEED YOU TO TELL ME WHICH ONE IT IS, SIR!

Bartender by T-Pain featuring Akon

If you deny singing this song in the fan when you were younger to get that auto-tune sound, you’re lying. I chose this song for a questionable song lyric because to this day, I still don’t understand why Akon was featured on this song saying that he doesn’t smoke nor drink that’s why you can’t catch him at the bar. BUT THE SONG IS CALLED BARTENDER. Although, I do like Akon for promoting this sober lifestyle.

Cake by the Ocean by DNCE

A lot of music is supposed to have an underlying theme in which artists use words to mean something else. BUT a lot of these songs just be NASTY, okay? For example, a very popular pop song out right now is Cake by the Ocean by DNCE. If you don’t know who that is, it’s a band and Joe Jonas is the lead singer of the group. And they’re pretty good. I actually saw them perform Cake by the Ocean live last year and they had the entire audience jumping. But it wasn’t until recently when I actually read the lyrics and was like ohhh…okay.

One line says, “See you licking frosting from your own hands. Want another taste, I’m begging, yes ma’am. ” Not to mention the title Cake by the Ocean is obviously supposed to be a reference to the alcoholic drink “Sex on the Beach.”

Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke featuring Pharrell and T.I.

Blurred Lines…I knew when I first heard this song that it was going to be all over the radio that summer. It’s catchy and I was right, it topped the Billboard charts summer 2013. Little did I know the song would cause such controversy as well with its lyrics. The title of the song even flew over my head…Blurred Lines…yikes.

To me, it sounds like Robin is trying to steal this girl away from her man. She wants to but she’s a good girl so she’s holding back.

The lyrics are a little..uncomfortable and let me just say if some random guy at the club was saying to me “you’re a good girl I know you want it” there would definitely be a problem.

What are your top songs that you think have some questionable song lyrics?

  1. That line is very debatable but I think he’s saying ” fine too”. He’s telling the other girl yes she’s fine too, but I still want you.
