Music makes the world go ’round…especially in movies.
A film’s soundtrack can make or break a film. One of the most memorable parts of a movie for me personally are the songs that are incorporated. Whether that song makes me feel happy, excited, determined, or like I’m personally going through a heartbreak, they make me feel something.
Whenever a song comes on that my mom and I recognize from a movie we always ask “What movie is this from?” to see if the other person knows.
The following is a list of songs and films that will always go hand and hand.
1.) This Woman’s Work by Maxwell
That scene. Ya’ll know THAT scene between Mike and Alicia from Love and Basketball.
2.) Pass the Courvessiour by Busta Rhymes
First and foremost…if you can listen to “Pass the Convessiour” without automatically thinking of the epic senior ditch day beach dance scene from Love Don’t Cost a Thing, then we can’t be friends.
3.) Hey Mickey- Toni Basil
Every single time I hear this song, this clip comes to mind.
A staple in teen pop culture…hey mickey!
4.) Ahmad-Back in the Day
Back in the day when I was young, I’m not a kid anymore but some days I sit and wish I was a good again… From my favorite movie of ALL TIME. THE WOOD.
5.) Celine Dion-My Heart Will Go On
I think this has to be the number one we can all agree on. From the Titanic or that sad animal commercial, Celine Dion did her thang with this one.
6.) Vanessa Carlton- A Thousand Miles
If I could fall into the sky…
WHITE CHICKS.
7.) Lose Yourself- Eminem
This song motivated me so much the first time I saw 8 Mile. I was ready to conquer anything!
8.) Fantasy by Mariah Carey
Short but sweet..this clip of Soo Young singing her heart out in Rush Hour always comes to mind when I hear this song.
9.) All or Nothing (Live Your Dreams)- Athena Cage
Save the Last Dance. I love this movie so much! Plus, the soundtrack is so fire I had a hard time choosing just ONE song that makes me think of this movie. “Back into It” by Ice Cube was close behind but definitely “All or Nothing” for the win.
10.) I Believe- Yolanda Adams
Let’s keep it going with the inspirational songs…Lastly we have “I Believe” by Yolanda Adams from the movie, Honey. THE dance movie that made me wish I had rhythm. I’ve cried a lot watching this closing dance scene so I had to include it.
What is one song that you automatically connect with a particular film?
Haha! Loved this girl! 💕 sooo relatable hahaha
